Can't Let You Go by Sidda Lee Tate - Review

Falling for him was easy, but can she let him go?

After a year of travel, fun-loving pool shark Lynette Brooks has settled in Pineville to be near her cousin. She doesn't plan to be there long, and she doesn't expect fate to step in, sweeping her off her feet. But when she meets the serious cop, Ty Sellers, she sees a challenge and is determined to get to know him.
Ty is a no-nonsense, by-the-book lawman who keeps to himself. Living in a fog of misery is exactly what he deserves, and getting emotionally attached to someone is not an option…until he meets Lynette. She's spontaneous, reckless, and a gorgeous haphazard of a woman who threatens to break through his guarded walls and unsettles emotions he buried long ago.
The chemistry between them is undeniable, but the guilt Ty lives with every day causes him to push Lynette away. All she wants is him, but how much of his wavering can she take before letting go for good?

Lynette slipped her shoes off, rolled her jeans to her knees, and dipped her feet in the cool lake. A massive weeping willow loomed overhead, by the light of the night the cascading leaves looked like a flowing waterfall.
She stared at the tree for a moment then flashed Ty a smile. "Thanks for bringing me here."
He put the cooler down next to an iron framed chair with beige cushions and sat on the edge. "I called in a favor. No big deal."
"Sharon and Kyle are pretty great. I've been to their house, seen the tropical paradise backyard, but this… I had no idea it was so beautiful. No wonder Kayla asked to have her wedding here." She raised an eyebrow, gave him a teasing grin. "Have you decided yet if you're going?"
"Depends."
"Well, if you do go, be warned, there will be dancing." Lynette plucked her feet from the water and stood. She grabbed her phone from her front pocket and searched through her music. She'd never danced lakeside under moonlight, and didn't want to pass up the chance, or the opportunity to be in his arms again. "You might want to practice. After all, there's no better way to woo the ladies. What will your date think if you're not fully prepared to swing her around the dance floor as if you own it?"
"Are you saying I'm a bad dancer, Miss Brooks?"
"Nope. I'm seizing the moment." She hit play on her phone, and a slow melody filled the silence of the night air. "Dance with me."
"Here?" he asked, glancing around at their surroundings.
"Of course! Why not?" Lynette grabbed his hand and pulled him to his feet. The hint of a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. The gesture caused all kinds of crazy little birds to take flight in her chest. "What else are we gonna do? Sit here and drink beer until we both pass out?" She laughed once then stood firm, feigning a serious face. "Wait, you didn't bring me out here to the most romantic spot I've seen in forever for nothing, did you?"
"I thought you'd like it." A huge smile plastered his face.
Ty took her other hand, maneuvered her in a half twist so her back was to his chest, then spun her out to the extent of his arm and back in where they faced each other. His right hand landed on the small of her back and pulled her close. He chuckled and did some kind of waltz type step to the music. Placing his palm on her chest, he pushed until her back arched in a way she never knew it could. Slowly, Ty ran his hand down the length of her torso, leaving a trail of unbridled heat that sent every ounce of blood in her body gushing straight to her core. By the time he jerked her back up her entire body had become a trembling heap. When their eyes met, she nearly came apart and fell through the cracks of the wood decking. What the hell?
Lynette wrapped her arms around his neck to keep from sliding through his hold, and tried her damnedest to control her lungs. She swallowed hard to tamp down the shaking in her throat. It didn't work, and her words came out sounding weak, quavering. "Someone's showing off."
"Someone asked for it," he said, low and resolute.

My Review

I loved this book so much! Can't Let You Go is part of a series but can easily be read as a stand alone. The great characters from the other books adds flavour to the book either way. I adore Sidda's writing style, it's totally unique and believable, really making her characters pop. Lynette was a brilliant character, realistically quirky, independent and strong, she was exactly my type of heroine. Ty made a super hot tortured hero, and I just couldn't get enough of the tension between these two! This is a book you'll be glad you got your hands on, and it'll make you want to go straight online to get the rest of the series if you haven't already read them!

#Sexy Snippets - Let It Burn

Aaah my goodness! Release day is tomorrow! So here is the first sexy snippet from Let It Burn...

"Don’t tease," Lydia chided, smoothing her hair self-consciously.
"I wasn’t. I happen to think you look very good for somebody who just stepped off a plane."
Wanting nothing more at that moment than to die, Lydia started to walk straight past him, thinking a refreshing shower would be nice. But he took hold of her arm as she walked past, pulling her back up against him so that her hips met his thigh.
He tucked one of what must have been many wayward locks of hair behind her ear and then whispered into it. "When I tease you, sweetheart, you’ll know it."

Blurb

Having a baby is Abby's dream. Will Liam's enemies stop her happily ever after?

Liam Whitmore III is floored by the surprise stipulation in his father's will—provide an heir within one year or he'll lose the controlling portion of Whitmore Incorporated to his cousin Spencer. The corporation is Liam's life. He'll do anything to keep his cousin's hands off of it, including finding a woman who'll bear his child. Though finding the right woman seems an impossible task since he doesn't have room in his life for anything except running the company. He doesn't want a wife, just an heir.

Abby Haden's family is about to lose their ranch, the only life her ailing father and brother have ever known. She feels helpless and is desperate to help. When the most coveted bachelor in Austin, Liam Whitmore III, also known as the Takeover Tyrant, offers to pay her to have his child it seems too incredible to be true. She's all but given up hope of ever having a baby. Not only will her dream of being a mother come true, but she can also save the family ranch.

It was just supposed to be a business deal, but Abby and Liam find it hard to keep their hearts out of what it takes to make a baby. Even as they sort out their feelings, others have their eye on Whitmore Incorporated. Liam and Abby will soon discover how far they'll go to make sure Abby never produces that heir.

My Review

This book was everything you could possibly want from a romance and more. I’m a fan of Olivia Starke’s anyway, but she really exceeded herself with this!

Liam was a great character because the reader really gets to experience his growth gradually throughout the book. He comes across believably cold at the beginning of the book, though his attraction to Abby is obvious from the word go. Abby is the kind of heroine that is unsure of herself enough to gain the readers sympathy, and strong enough to keep it! Their relationship was addictive from start to finish.

I was also impressed with how Olivia handled the villains in this book. There were clear reasons for Liam’s cousin to do the things he does throughout the story, and he is thoroughly believable. This book has the sweet and the spicy, excitement, danger and emotion. I can’t wait to read the second one!

Captivated by Ashlynn Munroe - Review

Blurb

Will Franny choose to live or just to survive?

Hardship, pain, and strife describes life on Utopia, a mining colony far from Earth. Women are a rare commodity. When an alien trade ship arrives with a cargo containing a human woman, every man on Utopia shows up to bid. Three friends pool their funds in the hope they'll have a human woman in their beds to keep them warm on the long nights of the coming harsh winter.
Francesca Dehart suffered the terror of aliens abducting her from a country road. The horror of being kidnapped and then sold as a sex slave is beyond anything Franny has ever imagined. With no hope of being rescued she finds herself with a new definition of hell—Utopia.
Can Cade, Nebraska, and Dawson show Franny her new life is more than a prison? They need her, but will she stay with them or run at the first opportunity? Can they hold onto the woman they've grown to love and protect her from the others who will stop at nothing to have her?

My Review

First of all, I’m a huge fan of Ashlynn Munroe’s, and when I saw this book I was expecting something along the lines of Given, which I loved. Well, though there were similarities, this book was totally different in a good way, and I absolutely loved it. Ashlynn has a great imagination, and I was totally absorbed in the book and curious about how the heroine Franny would survive in this hostile planet. I loved how the feelings of all the characters developed through the course of the story, and the ending was perfect. All I can say is if you’re a fan of sci-fi romance, go pick this up today because you don’t want to miss this fantastic story!

The Summer Heat by Elodie Parkes

I have Elodie Parkes here today sharing a little bit about her story The Summer Heat which is released today. Sounds hot! Over to you Elodie...

Thank you for inviting me to your blog to talk about my new Evernight Publishing release, ‘The Summer Heat’.

A ménage romance, two guys and a girl, this is erotic, contemporary romance that sizzles.

The Summer Heat

When lifelong friends Nate and Evan watch the arrival of a new neighbor, they never expect to find their friendship rocked by the lovely Annabel who moves into the empty house next door.

Annabel likes both Nate and Evan the moment she meets them. As they all grow close, will she be forced to choose between these gorgeous men?

Inspiration behind the story:

The inspiration came from a tree being cut down in the communal gardens where I currently live. I didn’t even see it felled, but I was immensely saddened as this was a healthy young tree. In my story, the gorgeous guys are cutting down a diseased tree in their garden, and that’s how they see Annabel move in next door.

My characters:

Annabel. She’s ready for love and looking for someone after her last miserable relationship. I imagine her surprise when she meets Nate and Evan, and has strong attraction to both of them.

Nate: He’s gentle, kind, sensually sexy, very good looking. Friends mean a lot to him. You can feel safe and loved with him, but boy do you know when he’s made love to you.

Evan: Strong, alpha, hides his emotions, but sex just drips from his gorgeous body. He calls you babe and takes charge, all the while your soft skin under his fingertips blows his mind.

Excerpt

An hour later, when only the big carton in her study remained to unpack, the doorbell rang. A lurch of anticipation tightened her stomach. She took a deep breath and went to open the door on shaky legs. Calm down, she told herself.
Nate and Evan stood side by side on the doorstep. They’d obviously showered. Their hair still wet, Evan’s curled enticingly at the ends around his ears. They wore fresh T-shirts and board shorts, showing off muscular chests, arms, and legs.
A wave of complete desire left Annabel weak as she looked from one to the other.
"Come in." Her voice wavered as nerves took over. She opened the door wide.
They walked in smiling.
Nate turned to close the door for her. His hand brushed hers.
A sexual charge from the connection forced her eyes closed for a second. She pulled herself together. "Do you want to go down to the kitchen? I’ve got cold beer and some juice. How did the tree stump digging go? Did you get it out?" She knew she gabbled, but couldn’t help it. Their nearness set her heart beating fast again. Her initial confidence when she’d met them was gone in the face of just how hot they were. Suppose they have girlfriends already and are just being neighborly? Suppose they don’t find me attractive in that way? Then she read the expression in his eyes when she offered Evan a bottle of beer. He likes me just fine. She touched her fingertips to his as she gave him the cold bottle. Rivers of sensation ran up to her elbow, and her thighs clenched involuntarily but deliciously.
Annabel turned her attention to Nate. "Beer, Nate?"
He nodded, and his eyes darkened at her as he came forward to take the drink.

Wow, he likes me. The thought brought a smile, and she sparkled at them both. "I’ll just get a glass of juice, and then we can go to the back room. It’s more comfortable there. We can sit and you can tell me all about the town. Have you lived here long?"

Sexy Snippets

Well hello everybody! I know, it's been far to long since I've done this, but since The Right Kind of Wrong is approaching it's first anniversary, here's Harriet and Jamie's first cheeky kiss...

Without warning, Jamie brushed his lips lightly against Harriet’s, and she felt a tingling sensation from where he had kissed her right down to the pit of her stomach. Despite her initial shock, she closed her eyes and gave herself to the kiss, swaying into him and hoping to feel his body against hers. But all too quickly he pulled away and stepped back. Harriet gasped and touched her mouth with her fingers, staring at him, willing him to explain himself.
"I’m sorry."
Harriet expected his boyish smile, but instead he frowned and looked at the floor.
"I shouldn’t have done that."

Blurb

Maybe only someone who’s been behind bars can understand how to set her free.
Fresh out of jail, Jamie Pierce is desperate to change his ways and become a better person. He wants to earn enough money to get out of London for good and live a quiet life somewhere in the country. But then he meets Harriet Jones, a beautiful young fashion designer who is plagued by self-doubt, and suddenly leaving doesn’t seem so simple.
Harriet has spent years trying to win her father’s affection, but time and time again she’s been left feeling that she just isn’t good enough. When she starts to fall for her rough-around-the-edges neighbor, she knows her father would never approve.
It was only meant to be a fling, but maybe the person who seems so wrong for her could be just the kind of person she needs. Can Jamie help Harriet learn to believe in herself, or will she remain trapped in her own prison of self-doubt?
